A Creative First: Starting My Engagement Portfolio
This golden hour orchard session was something special — not just because of the glowing light or the quiet rows of apple trees, but because it marked a little milestone for me: my first engagement session in a new creative series.
I recently put out a model call asking couples to help me expand my portfolio and explore different editing styles. This shoot was the very first one, and it felt like the perfect way to start.
Playing with Style: Soft, Rustic, and Boho
The vibe for this session was rustic meets boho, with a more muted, washed-out editing approach than my usual vibrant, true-to-color style. I wanted something that felt soft, warm, and a little nostalgic — and these two made that vision come to life.
A Couple Who Made It Easy
The couple? Absolutely lovely. They’re both still in school — young, but already deeply grounded in their relationship. They’ve been together for years and are now planning their future together, and their comfort and connection was obvious in every frame.
They were so patient and supportive, spending over two hours with me while I experimented with angles, prompts, and lighting. I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to help me kick off this project.
The orchard gave us a dreamy backdrop, but it was their quiet laughter, their ease with each other, and the way they leaned in without needing direction that brought the photos to life.
